Peter Dayton is a composer who has an abiding love of poetry. Recent projects include a cycle of settings of modern American poetry for chorus, including texts by John Ashbery, W.S. Merwin, May Swenson, Wallace Stevens, and others. Selections of Dayton’s works for chorus and for orchestra have been recorded for CDs by Ablaze Records. Dayton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor’s in Music and a Minor in English. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the Peabody Institute of the John’s Hopkins University.
